Cardi B has opened up about how President Donald Trump's mass deportation orders have impacted her family.
After she attended Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans on Sunday night, February 9, the New York native hopped on Instagram Live and vented her frustrations at the newly elected president for sparking chaos with his historic presence at the big game. She complained about the increased security measures by the Secret Service, which allegedly caused damage to her $3,000 high heels. After saying she liked Trump "lesser," Cardi revealed the only way he could get back in her good graces was to bring back her uncle who recently got deported.
"Now I like him lesser because you didn’t have to go to no damn Super Bowl," she said. "F**king up my shoe. … Now he’s gonna have to — well, he definitely ain’t gon’ do that — bring my uncle back because my uncle got deported.”
Cardi B hails from the Bronx but her family is from Trinidad and the Dominican Republic. The mother of three didn't provide any details about her uncle's immigration status. Nonetheless, she's one of many celebrities who have recently spoken out against Trump for his radical treatment of alleged illegal immigrants.
Her "Taki Taki" collaborator Selena Gomez caught a lot of backlash a few weeks ago when she posted a video of herself crying about the mass deportations when they first started last month. Despite her noble intentions, conservative critics criticized her for showing empathy towards immigrants. She swiftly removed the video after she received all the hateful feedback.
