Teen Killed, 8 Injured In Multiple Downtown Chicago Shootings

One teenager was killed and eight others were injured during two shootings that took place in downtown Chicago Friday (November 21) night, the Chicago Police Department confirmed via ABC News.

Police initially found a large group of people on the sidewalk near the Chicago Theater, which included seven injured victims, while on patrol at 9:50 p.m. local time.

"Officer's heard gunshots being fired, and the large group began fleeing the scene," authorities said via ABC News. "Officers immediately responded to the area and discovered seven people had sustained gunshot wounds from the gun fire."

All seven victims were reported to have received treatment from the Chicago Fire Department at the scene and taken to local hospitals, with six reported to be in good condition and one in fair condition. Two victims were found to have been struck by gunfire when officers responded to a reported shooting in the 100 block of South Dearborn Street at around 10:40 p.m. local time.

A 14-year-old male with multiple gunshot wounds was transported to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. An 18-year-old male victim was also reported to have suffered a gunshot wound to the leg and hospitalized in serious condition.

No suspects have been taken into custody in relation to either shooting as of Sunday (November 23) morning, according to police.
